The company D. Moody (Haulage) Ltd. was formed in 1960 and by 1971 there were over 40 vehicles in constant use and a full-time staff of over 45. In addition to our core business as coal merchants, we had introduced the sale of DIY materials and our fleet had expanded to include tippers, flatbeds and skips.
Because of the closure of the mining industry in the 80s and the decline in the sale of coal in general, D. Moody (Haulage) Ltd. began looking at alternative sources of revenue and activities. In 1990 the company entered into a partnership with British Rail to develop an overnight parcel operation called Track 29. Although this no longer exists, it was the catalyst into our current work within the overnight multi-drop market.
In April 1995, the company made a commitment to Investors in People. This was viewed by the directors as a tool to assist us in refocusing our business strategy due to our changing market, environment and the requirements to retrain our staff. We purchased and relocated to our current 7 acre site at Bolam Business Park, Cramlington in May 2005.
